Getting all Fast & Furious with Anki Overdrive

Anki, which is the company behind the modernized and upgraded Scalextric toy, Anki Overdrive, has announced that they are partnering with NBC Universal to introduce the Fast & Furious universe into Anki Overdrive.

Only a package which is more or less equivalent to the starter pack we already know has been shown and announced, and we can assume the price will be the same. We might see the cars being sold individually but no word on that yet.

The cars will have their own unique weapons just like all the other cars do. The package will contain tracks pieces as well, but there is one special track piece called “power zone” which enables you to make a big blast while driving through it, blasting enemies back.

You can drive alongside one of the four main characters from the latest movie in the franchise; Dom, Hobbs, Letty and Tej will be available. Now I can have Vin Diesel talking to me on the phone! Score!

Manuel Torres Port, EVP at Universal, says; “Fast & Furious is one of NBCUniversals most beloved and longest ongoing brands – which is why we are very selective when it comes to choosing partners. After experiencing the revolutionary robot technology and gameplay which Anki Overdrive offers, the decision of choosing Anki as partner was easy. We can offer a fresh and innovative new experience for fans of Fast & Furious with Anki Overdrive. We are proud to adding them to our selective list of licensepartners for our brand.”

The Fast & Furious edition will be compatible with Anki Oversdrive, inklusive cars and track pieces.

Anki Overdrive: Fast & Furious edition will hit stores later this year.
