Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two for Vita is out!
Epic Mickey came out back in 2010 and was quite praised (and wanted by non-Wii owners), so much in fact that they ended up making another game that went multiplatform. Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is out on PlayStation Vita, albeit a little late to the party.
The PS3 version came out late last year, and we covered it back then. We loved the reunion with Mickey and his brush. This time around, as many of you are aware, he teams up with Oswald that actually was the enemy in the first game, but you know Mickey, he’s very empathic, so if you played the first game, you’d know he quickly got Oswald to be on his side.
I suggest you jump in and read our coverage of the PS3 version if you want more details about the game itself – the Vita version is a direct port of what’s happening in the PS3 version, it’s not developed from bottom, but ported.
The Vita version is making use of hitting a new platform, such as touch screen functions and the gyroscope (touch the screen where you want Mickey to paint and steer the car by tilting the Vita console) and includes the same co-op that the big console version also do – but in ad-hoc mode, so you’d have to have two Vitas and two copies of the game in order to play together.
Cross-play with the PS3 version is not implemented, and no one has promised us anything. Would have been quite nice to play with family members playing the PS3 version and me on Vita and experience this gem of an adventure.
