Real-life “Amulet of Mara” used appropriately
If you’ve played The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, you’ll probably recognize the amulet above. And it was used exactly like in Skyrim.
According to the story, the guy who proposed to his girlfriend was introduced to Skyrim by her, so proposing to her with the “Amulet of Mara” is quite fitting, I’d say.
In the game, the amulet unlocks special relationships and dialogues, including being able to marry other characters.
Briody, who was the lucky recipient of the amulet, told Kotaku that she didn’t entirely realized what it was or what it meant when she put it around her neck.
She realised it quickly, when her boyfriend got down on one knee and said “Is that an Amulet of Mara? I’m surprised someone like you isn’t spoken for.”
She said yes, of course, and she got a conventional engagement ring, too.
