E3 Liveblog: Nintendo
18:00
A little pre-show, two hosts talking about what we can expect both from this showcase but also for the visitors at the show later on. “Let’s have some fun!”
- Now waiting for the showcase to start
18:05
A video with Miamoto appears. Pikmins stars in the video as well. One of them fell into his pocket in the jacket he wears, and he enters the stage – with the leaf from the Pikmin viewable. He starts to show the audience and Pikmins appears. Miamoto changes to japanese and a translator start to talk over the sound system. Not sure I can stand this for too long to be honest. Why is Miamoto there, talking japanese to americans? Nintendo, when do you learn to do something for your audience?
18:10
Miamoto has been talking for a while, haven’t caught much of it because of two dialogues at the same time. He’s pulled out the Wii U, a black one, and has announced the next Pikmin game; Pikmin 3. Rock Pikmin as a new class in the game.
18:16
Reggis Fill-Aime enters the stage. Finally someone I can understand and aren’t annoying to listen to. Nintendo definitely know they did bad last year, he made sure to show the console itself. It changes your gaming, it changes how you interact with your gamingfriends, and it changes how you interact with your TV. “It stands for revolutionize your living room”
Amazon Video is promised to reach the console. New ways to connect with your friends – and he shows the Mii’s (yes I still think they are horrible ugly). “Social Window” is said in the same sentence as “Gaming experience”. Reggis does well, and he jumps back to the importance of the Wii U – the gamepad.
You can now play with two gamepads at the same console at the same time.
18:20
The gamepad is being shown thouroghly onscreen, telling about all the details and buttons. Reggis mentions Miiverse, which will be the equivalent to XBL and Home. This will be where you socialize on the Wii U. You can share a number of things, such as screencap from the game you’re playing, a drawing, and mood via smilies.
18:23
Mario appears on the screen. The Wii U title is announced; Super Mario.U. A trailer starts, and it seems you can play with at least 4 players at the same time. Can be played on the big screen AND on the gamepads small screen if needed.
18:28
Batman: Arkham City logo appears on the bigscreen behind Reggis and a shirt monologue from Harley Quinn is running over the sound system. Looks like the subtitle will be “Armored Edition”. A spokesperson Rocksteady Studios appears on the screen and presents the game that will have exclusive content and gameplay. A teaser trailer has been shown. Gamepad can be used to steer the remote boomerang. “The most immersive Batman has arrived”
18:31
Scribblenauts Unlimited is now announced for the Wii U. Trailer looks enticing, they’ve kept the look of the game and the gameplay also look to be the same. The game will have multiplayer mode.
18:33
Reggis has returned onstage, and shows a couple of teaser trailers for games they plan to launch on the Wii U, including Mass Effect 3, Tekken and Aliens: Colonial Marines. Not too sure about the Tekken though, Heihachi took something and grew – and stomped on Kazuya.
18:38
Reggis is now talking about Wii Fit. Wii Fit U announced. A trailer starts. Burn calories while having fun. Looks like you can keep track of how many calories you’ve burned via the new Fit Meter. Nintendo is definitely focusing on kids, families and the person who either weighs too much and want to loose weight while playing games or loves to work out and to play games and do both at the same time.
18:39
SiNG announced – still working title though. Looks like every other singing game out there.
18:43
Reggis mentions the 3DS and presents Scott Moffitt who gets on stage and starts talking about 3DS. He’s mentioning a live broadcast tomorrow, with a whole hour of the future games for 3DS. A 2D Mario game is announced with the words “It’s all about the gold” Title is Super Mario 2.
He mentions Super Paper Mario and the big screen jumps to a trailer. The subtitle is “Sticker Star” – you’re supposed to collect stickers in the game, so everything makes sense. Arrives this holiday.

18:46
He mentions Luigi, and a trailer for Luigis Mansion 2 shows on the big screen. Also promised for this holiday season. After he again mentions tomorrows broadcast, more teaser trailers for 3DS from 3rd party developers shows on the screen while he walks out.
18:49
Reggis is back and announces Lego City Undercover for Wii U. Looks like an open world game in Lego. Using the gamepad in an intuitive way, and it looks really nice actually. I want this game… Telltale Games is of course the makers behind it. The trailer ends with the lego figurine goes down in a pipe with the well known sound from Super Mario – and the audience laughs.
18:57
Reggis mentions Ubisoft, and Yves appear on the stage, thanking Reggis for being invited to the show. Reggis asks Yves what he thinks about the new console. “The new Wii U console is a great innovation”. Fantastic words from Yves about the console – but again, he wants people to buy it so he can sell his games.
Xavier Poix appears and the Just Dance 4 logo is show on the screen. A gameplay session starts – he shows that with the gamepad, he can choose what move is shown on the screen, and the four dancers onstage changes their move accordingly.
He talks for a moment with Reggis. You’ve know seen what Ubisoft is offering the casual gamers, and jumps to ZombiU, Ubisofts next big title for core gamers. A gameplay trailer is shown. The audience cheers at the end of the trailer.
It ends with Xavier asking Reggis to take a picture of himself, and the game is making a zombie version of Reggis – much to the audiences joy.
19:06
A trailer of the game lineup shows – and Reggis announces Nintendoland. I’m not sure what this game is. Another japanese guy who can’t speak english – the translator is of course ready over the sound system. Sounds like Nintendoland is an amusement park game, that includes a couple of Nintendo’s IP’s. Looks to be multiplayer enabled. They’re showing off Luigis Ghost Mansion, and the player with the gamepad takes on a special role as the ghost – looks like it will be a catching game of some sort. Promised to be a launch title for the Wii U.
19:11
Reggis talks for a moment, again Nintendo E3 All Access is mentioned. “In a world with more obligations and less time, we’ll make a promise to make Wii U simple. Together. Better”.
And that was this years Nintendo showcase at E3. A short trailer for Nintendoland is shown at the screen to close the case.
