A little laugh from the past

Passing through the internet, looking for quotes in gaming, because I needed it somewhere else, I stumbled over one of Destructoid’s great posts. I laughed so hard, and only Mario players will laugh the same way.

When working their way through a Bowser level in Super Mario Bros, a gamer’s thought process goes something like this:

“Crap crap crap crap crap JUMP wait wait wait JUMP run run crap crap crap run CRAP DODGE THE FIREBALL crap crap crap haha take that you stupid Koopa King woo this is awesome I get to meet the Princess HEY WHAT THE HELL.”

I’m getting sentimental here, but who isn’t sometimes? I think of some of my first games from time time, especially the ones that made an impact on me in some way, or that I just utterly loved, and love. And oh, I will ad a little video to make other players’ day! It goes with the quote. Remember to have your sound on, don’t miss out.

Boosting tutorials? What’s that?

Boosting a game.
Most games today, on consoles or computer, has multiplayer games – modes, where you play against other players all over the world through the internet, if your pc or console is connected to the online marvelous world.

While most multiplayer games is against one or more other players, maybe even in teams, you can gain the goals* much faster by working together with other players, to gain the goals cooperativly.

Let’s see an example. You need 2000 kills in a certain game mode. That may seem unobtainable, since you get 5-8 kills in every game, and everyone else is getting maybe 20 or more kills, because they are more skilled in the game, problably because they have played the game a lot, and maybe some other games that are similar to the game – most FPS** and 3PS** games has so many titles, that you barely can avoid them.

With other boosters, you are agreeing on who’s getting which goal – sometimes you have to let other people kill you or win the race, dependent on what game it is, and which goal you’re going for.

What if I don’t have any friends to team up with?
There is several ways to do this. Play some online games, have your mikrophone plugged in, talk to people, see if you can find some gamers who also looking for friends and maybe other boosters for that game.

You can also find websites for the specific console, you’re playing on, or maybe even a website for the game, you wanna play. Find a site, that suits you, and stick to it. Slowly you will gain more friends (if you’re active on the site anyway, mostly in forums on the sites) and if you’re regularly playing online with friends, they might add some of their friends to your sessions and that way you can get more friends to play with.

What NOT to do while you’re boosting.
Don’t screw around. Stick to what the other players tell you to do, especially the one that seems to have the lead. Most of the times, when I’m playing, we’re not specificing out a leader, but within some time one of the players seems to naturally take over, mostly if they have good communication skills on the international gaming language, which seems to be english/american.

If you’re screwing around – and not listening to people, most likely, they will kick you out of the party and game, and some of the players will not play with you again.

* on Ps3 called trophies, on Xbox360 called achievements – some PC games for Windows Live may have the achievements.

** FPS stands for First Person Shooters, 3PS for 3rd Person Shooters, is quite porpular, and people are playing in clans together, and have been playing for several years, and are quite skilled – some even competing and winning money by this.
